What a great record! For a long time I was curious about all the songs that were identified as Foxtrots on 78 rpm records. I wondered exactly what it meant was it a certain style of syncopation, an unusual time signature? It seemed like the term was used in combination with all sorts of other genre names, on jazz orchestras, marimba bands, and I imagined a world of strange fusions predating the hyphenations of my generation. It turns out that the term Foxtrot appeared on a great number of records from that period, and it pretty much just has to do with tempo; at the right speed to do a popular dance stop too. But how wonderful to see the convention surviving well into the Beatles era in places! It really tickles me, as do these charming arrangements.
